Located in Rouffach, in the South of Alsace, the Clos Saint Landelin, monopoly of the Muré family, covers 12 hectares (29 acres). It’s situated at the southern end of the grand cru Vorbourg. Its steep south facing slopes are cultivated in terraces. The soil is clay and limestone with a lot of stones. The subsoil is made of calcareous sandstone from the Bajocien and calcareous conglomerates from the Oligocene. The vineyard is in organic farming.
Tasting notes:
Pinot Gris is one of the most generous Cépages of Alsace: it's a very gourmet wine which evokes ripe yellow fruits (such as delicate peaches and tangy apricots) but it also has a great subtlty with undergrowth and smoky aromas. The Clos Saint Landelin terroir gives a complex and well-structured wine, with an amazing aging potential.
This Pinot Gris is the ideal compagnon for poultry, truffles or hard cheese.
94+ - Vinous Janvier 2019 : « Golden-tinged straw. Intense aromas and flavors of passion fruit, mushrooms and forest floor; like a hike in the forest on a drizzly day. Lovely, long and very clean, with refined yet very concentrated notes of tropical fruit and pear nectar on the long, suave, slightly smoky finish. Knockout Pinot Gris of superb depth complexity.» Ian d’Agata
